Take the stems out of the jute as soon as they arrive, cut a little off each one at an angle and place them in a clean vase of fresh water. Change the water every 1-2 days and trim the stems slightly each time. Keep the vase away from direct sunlight, heat and fans, and pinch off lisianthus blooms as they fade so the buds can open. Carnations and chrysanthemums are long-lasting, so the bunch keeps going well after the first blooms are done.
